The goals of this course include: Apply the social problems framework to the obesity epidemic. Apply the internal factors that cause overeating to the food industry’s customers/consumers. Apply the internal changes that can be made to the food industry’s customers/consumers so that they can obtain control over their eating habits. Apply the external factors of the obesity epidemic to the food industry’s cusomters/consumers, as well as apply the external changes that can be made to the food industry per se, and ultimately reduce the obesity epidemic. Articulate ethical principles in the context of a specific social problem and describe how they can help formulate social policy or research Apply scientific processes and knowledge of the natural world to make evidence-based decisions (General Education Outcome 2.1).
